Hello this is Risako!
In September, I had an opportunity to present my study results from Ghana in the conference of JSHWR in Gifu!
I am sharing some pictures I took there.
Gifu is a city where famous sengoku daimyo, Oda Nobunaga, once had his castle. BEck then, river was one of the key defence for castles and Nagara river in Gifu was one of the example.
From more 1300 years ago, Ukai (cormorant fishing) was common in Gifu and it is said that Nobunaga also used Ukai for hosting an important guest.
Gifu was a great city to discuss water related issues and our lives with water because it has such a long history of using the river and getting coutless damage from water-related disaster.
